The Blue and Whites’ coach affirms: “Scoring an away goal is positive. We’re focusing on that despite the 2-1 defeat.”
Match analysis
“The match was more or less what we were expecting with regards to the rival’s game play. We didn’t get off to a bad start, we dominated play at certain times without being too aggressive in the final metres in order to generate more accurate scoring chances.”
Goals conceded and scored
“The rival took the lead from a corner kick due to a lack of power in the first clearance, and Mirandés are strong in second plays, rebounds and set pieces. They scored the second goal from the wing following our struggle after they took the initial lead. We had a chance to get on the score board, but Horta’s shot hit the post, and in this play as well, we hit the crossbar.”
“We are finding it very hard to score goals, which is what is making it so difficult for us to move forward in games. The rival, who performed well, has taken the lead in this first leg of the Cup tie.”
Good performance from the non-regulars
“I want to stay positive, we have a chance to turn this result around at our home ground and go further in the Cup competition. I don’t like to focus on the aspect of luck as we then tend to lose a bit of reality somewhat, although at certain times we could do with it. I don’t want to dwell on these situations. We saw some members of the team in action who don’t usually get much chance to play. I’m pleased with their performance and confident we can turn the situation around in the return leg.”
Next match
“La Liga is another competition in which we’re truly in need, so we need to demonstrate this necessity for the entire 90 minutes and try and achieve a good result.”
