Málaga CF coach, Javi Gracia held a post-match press conference at Vallecas stadium following the 0-1 defeat by Rayo, who opened the scoring with a goal from Kakuta after “a mistake which complicated a fairly even game.”
Javi Gracia comments: “We knew it would be a difficult match. The rival’s game demanded a high level of defence, as they focus on a strong attack with many players in their search for a greater depth on the offensive. This is how we ended up conceding a goal. It was a hard-fought action that shouldn’t have happened.”
Gracia continues: “With regards to being a balanced game, it became more difficult as time went on and the rival took the advantage. We also had a quick chance to equalise with a Castillejo header. It was a long match with a great deal of running around the pitch. The last 15 minutes were tough as we were a man down.”
The ‘Malaguista’ coach doesn’t believe his team will relax at all: “I don’t think the boys will relax. Taking into account our team’s characteristics, playing away, under difficult conditions and with high pressure, it was an uphill struggle. The rival showed what they’re capable of in this afternoon’s match, so we’re not going to relax at all.”
