Jairo: “I’ve come here to be important”

The winger from Cantabria, who will be a Malaguista until 2022, is grateful for the Club’s commitment to him, which gives him confidence.

Arrival

“The possibility arose at the beginning of August. Manolo told me about the Club’s situation, and I gave them my assessment. I wanted to return to Spain and the option I was presented with was positive for me. We agreed to talk at a later date and kept in touch. The option remained open for both sides and the negotiation was easy. I’m happy to be here”.

Málaga

"I’m happy that a club as big as Málaga has shown a commitment to me, it gives me confidence after a couple of bad seasons due to injury. I needed that confidence, which is why I signed for two years as I wanted a bit of continuity. My first days in the city have been fantastic, everyone has been so lovely, people I meet on the street, on social media, my teammates…I’m very happy”.

Patience

“We need time, but the competition level is there. We need to get the results as soon as possible, improve and get to know one another. There’s a lot of work to do. We need to put the pieces together little by little, we need results, but we must also be patient. There are young players here, so we need to stay calm in that regard”.

Expectation

“I came here with a clear idea, to return to my optimum level. I would like to be important, that’s what I’m here for. It would be great news for Málaga as I could get very good results for the team”.
