Izan ends his participation in European U-17 Championship

Spain were defeated by France yesterday by 1-3, in the semi-finals of the European Under-17 Championship taking place in Hungary.

Julen Guerrero's team didn’t qualify for the final of the tournament, despite taking the lead in the second half (69') with a superb goal from Lamine Yamal. France reacted with impetus and speed, scoring three goals (72', 80' and 91') in the final stretch of the game that sealed the final 1-3 victory at the Pancho Arena Puskas in Hungary.

Izan Merino wasn’t part of the game, remaining on the bench for the entire match. The young Malaguista has ended his participation in the European Under-17 Championship having played three matches, all three in the starting-11, with three wins (two in the group stage and one in the quarter-finals) and 214 minutes accumulated in his first three caps with Spain.

Spain’s Under-17s, among the four best teams in Europe, secured their pass to the next world championship in the category in Hungary.
