Isco: “I’m pleased with my debut with Spain’s first team”

Francisco Alarcón "Isco" returned to training this morning, following his debut with Spain’s first team in Wednesday’s friendly against Uruguay. The ‘Malagueño’ played for 30 minutes and showed some of his quality skills on the pitch.

Isco proudly displayed his team shirt from Wednesday’s match at today’s press conference, which he described as ‘a wonderful memory.’  “It was an amazing experience.  It was great to share the locker room with such major players.  I made my debut with the best team in the world and represented my team from my home town.”

The ‘Malaguista’ relives Vicente del Bosque’s directions before the match: “He told me that if I get the chance to play, then to focus on being as natural as possible on the pitch, as I do with my team, which gave me a lot of confidence.”  Isco was only focusing on getting out on the pitch: “I just wanted the chance to get out there and enjoy playing football without any pressure.”

Isco, who substituted Iniesta in the 60th minute of the match, confesses: “I would have liked to have played with him too.  Iniesta is an absolutely amazing player, but it’s too soon to say if a replacement would take place in the future.”

The humble Benalmádena-born player, states: “I’m still young and have got a lot of hard work to do to keep growing and improving.  I’ve really only just started, but I hope my debut with Spain’s first team wasn’t a one-off, and I can one day get a place on the team.  I play with the under-21’s, my feet are firmly on the ground and I’m grateful for any chance I get.  Perhaps my position is the most difficult of all as there’s so much competition, but I’m working as hard as I can and taking advantage of every opportunity.”
