Gracia: “Our aim has to be eighth place”

The coach regrets the defeat in Vigo, but reiterates “we’re still eighth, and our objective has to be to improve on our ranking from last year.”

Match analysis

“We were aware of what we’d be up against with this rival, they’re having a great season, showing immense authority at home and creating numerous goal chances.  We tried to control this, and they didn’t generate too many scoring opportunities in the first half, despite the goal.  Furthermore, we were better in the second half, with more approaches, more possession, but we weren’t successful.  Congratulations to the rival.”

Hopes

“We’re still in eighth place, and this has to be our aspiration.  Trying to improve on our ranking from last year, one position, has to be our objective.”

Expulsion

“I think it was unfair.  During an action when the rival committed a foul, a counter attack was encouraged which led to a goal opportunity.  At that moment I felt wronged because of certain decisions, I said “it’s a foul” to the linesman, and I was sent off.  I don’t think it was fair.  It’s a shame I’ll miss out on the last match, bringing an end to the season at home.”

Arrival of Al Thani

“We spent time with him, he was in the hotel.  It’s always an additional factor to ensure things turn out for the better, as we were all thrilled he was there.  However, a victory wasn’t possible.”

División de Honor

“I’d like to congratulate Málaga’s youth team for being proclaimed champions of Spain, which isn’t something you achieve every day.  Congratulations to everyone.”
