Genuine Champions

The Fundación MCF EDI and Newcastle United Foundation DS played one another this Saturday in the I ‘Supercapacita@s’ International Football Match, held at the UMA sports facilities.

The football fiesta invaded the University of Málaga sports complex this Saturday 11th May. There, Málaga Genuine and Newcastle United took part in an historic match, the first ‘Supercapacita@s’ International Match.

The English side arrived on the Costa del Sol last Friday. That same day they were greeted by the Blue and White squad at La Rosaleda, where the Malaguistas, as the perfect hosts, showed the visitors around the stadium and exchanged gifts over dinner. After just a few minutes, the good relationship between both teams was evident and they didn’t separate for a moment.

On Saturday morning, the two sides played one another at the UMA facilities. Present at the match were Málaga CF Femenino players, Chelsea and Leti and former Malaguistas, Weligton and Jesús Gámez. All four donned their kit and didn’t hesitate to step on to the pitch. Referee Eva Alcaide was officiating, with sportsmanship and Fair Play prevalent throughout. A significant number of fans were cheering the teams on from the stands, and donated a kilo of non-perishable food to enter the ground.

Also in attendance were the councillor for mobility at Málaga City Hall, Eva Sánchez; Juan Carlos Barroso from Fundación ‘la Caixa’; Francisco Pérez, owner of main sponsor, VIPESA; and Pedro Montiel, sports director at the UMA. In addition, also collaborating in the event were the Junta de Andalucía, Diputación Provincial de Málaga and Doña Francisquita Catering.

The result? The happy faces of both teams said it all, in this match there were only CHAMPIONS.
