Genaro: “The team did a tremendous job”

The Blue and White player also appeared in the mixed zone following the match against Granada CF. “There’s nothing to reproach the team for, the fans corroborated it, and this is the way forward,” he said.

Málaga CF midfielder, Genaro held a press conference after #MálagaGranada.

The Blue and White number ‘16’ is “happy on a personal level, coming back into these circumstances isn’t easy.” Analysing the match, he said: “The team did a tremendous job, we fought until the end. It's a pity that the penalty wasn’t clear enough for the referee.” He ended his initial response with his mind set on Ibiza: “We’re already thinking about Sunday.”

Pepe Mel made several key adjustments during the course of the match. Genaro commented: “The system was changed, and we saw a more compact Málaga. The team managed to recover from the initial slump, we competed, we were in the lead at half-time and that hard work was reflected in the second half.”

The Blue and White midfielder is clear that we need to “keep improving and polishing our game to score more goals than the rival, which is essential,” while he was very satisfied with the group's performance: “There’s nothing to reproach the team for, the fans corroborated it, and this is the way forward.”

Following this hard-fought draw, the focus is now on the clash at Can Misses: “There’s nothing else to think about other than the final on Sunday, we have to have all our senses in that game, give our all and win all the duels. It's a final for us.”

Genaro admitted that in Ibiza “we’re going to believe in ourselves more than ever. We have to bring back the three points no matter what and then we'll think about ending the year with Alavés,” he concluded.
