Fran Villalba, talent and last pass at the service of the Blue and Whites

The player arrives on loan from Real Sporting de Gijón. Málaga CF has a purchase option that may be obligatory if certain conditions are met.

Francisco José Villalba Rodrigo (11/5/98, Valencia) is a skilled and versatile attacking player. Fast, with great technical skills, accuracy and an extraordinary match vision, these qualities make him a key player. His versatility allows him to perform in midfield and on the left wing, with outstanding results.

Fran Villalba trained in the youth ranks of Valencia, his hometown club. His talent took him to play for the reserve team, Valencia Mestalla, in 2ªB at just 16 years of age. Just a year later, when he was 17, he made his first team debut with the ‘che’ team’ in LaLiga Santander against Villarreal CF (31/12/2015). Following two seasons of playing a decisive role with the reserve team, he made the definitive leap to professional football with CD Numancia.

He arrived on loan at Numancia, taking part in 29 games, becoming an indisputable player. His performance sparked the interest of English side Birmingham City, who took over his services as a free agent. Under their ownership, Villalba was loaned out several times: Two seasons at UD Almería where he played a total of 46 matches and one at Real Sporting where he was decisive in the 38 league games. Subsequently, the Asturian club took over his services in ownership this past summer after his great performance.

Málaga CF assumes the transfer at cost of Fran Villalba and agrees to a purchase option that may be compulsory if certain conditions shown in the contract are met.

Welcome to your new home, Fran!
