Fran Sol: “We were mentally strong to turn it around”
The Blue and White striker talked to MCFTV after the match against UD Las Palmas: “It was a hard-fought game,” he stated.
Fran Sol was one of the protagonists of this match. His goal from the 11-metre mark took the game level at a crucial moment for the team. The striker commented: “I think it was a very hard-fought game. We had to turn it around very quickly, which is very difficult in the world of football. We've been working on something all week and after two minutes, a rather dubious penalty was awarded against us. I think we managed to turn it around. We were very strong mentally. Then they scored a great goal and once again we overcame it thanks to the magic of Álex Calvo who came out and gave us life with that superb goal,” he said.
On an individual level, Sol played a great match. Not only because of the goal, but also because of his great attacking display: “I generated scoring chances that, as I always say, I'd rather miss than not have. The penalty was a difficult moment as when the referee takes such a long time to award it, many things go through your head. I stood my ground. On a personal level, I’m very happy for another place in the starting line-up and another goal that helped us earn points,” he commented.
Now there are two consecutive matches coming up at La Rosaleda, which will be key to the future of the season: “We know that people will go to La Rosaleda and give their all. I'll stick with what the fans said the other day: ‘Yes, you can.’ For us it’s essential they’re with us. We’re very grateful to them, and I think we have two very passionate weeks ahead that will determine the future,” he stated.
