A point against Cacereño in a frantic match (1-1)

Málaga CF Femenino drew at home against CF Femenino Cacereño Atlético on matchday 21 of Segunda Federación Grupo Sur. María Cortés, in 39', took the match level after the rival goal from Marina López in 37'.

Málaga CF Femenino were in action on Sunday at 16:00 at the Estadio Francisco Romero against CF Femenino Cacereño Atlético on Segunda Federación Grupo Sur matchday 21.

Juanma’s team arrived at this game in 5th position with 36 points, whilst the rival were in 7th place with 33 points.

The starting line-up, with a 1-4-5-1 formation, was made up of Andrea in goal; a line of defence with Encarni, Ruth, Silvia Mérida and Yoli Peche; María Cortés, Tati and Bertuchi in midfield; whilst Marilén was on the right side of the attack, Futu with freedom starting from the left, and Carmen Gómez upfront.

There was a fast pace of play during the first half, with two teams giving their all under the intense Spring-like heat, with the match featuring the first hydration breaks of the season.

Marilén took the first shot on goal of the match, in the 7th minute, from distance and off target.

From that point on there was a battle for control of the ball and an MCFF that sought to attack the spaces with a very active Carmen Gómez. It was precisely the number '19' who enjoyed the clearest opportunity to open the scoring. After half an hour, she made a break to the right and her attempt was just centimetres away from the target.

Cacereño Atlético, in an action without apparent danger, took the lead on the scoreboard. The goal stemmed from a long-distance shot by Marina López, who slipped in close to the right post of Andrea’s goal (0-1, min 37).

The Malaguista reaction wasn’t long in coming and shortly afterwards the balance was restored. A corner taken by Marilén, from a left wing that she occupied in the final stretch of the first half, saw the ball reach María Cortés who scored with a left-footer (1-1, min 39).

Spurred on by the goal, Juanma's team went in search of the second. And they almost succeeded in stoppage time. Carmen Gómez overcame the rival defence after a long delivery from Silvia Mérida, yet her close shot was deflected by goalkeeper, Allyson.

In the second half, the Malaguistas’ high pressure forced the Cáceres side to play long. Futu, in 55', generated the first chance, with a shot that went wide.

The visitors had their moment with a free kick hit by captain Inma, with a great response from Malaguista goalkeeper Andrea. In the rebound, Inma again had her chance, but the ball collided with the crossbar.

Following this sequence, Juanma introduced a triple substitution to keep the team’s legs fresh. Nazaret, Carla Aguilar and Monterroso came on for Marilén, Carmen Gómez and Tati.

It didn't take long for Monterroso to generate a dangerous action. And what an opportunity it was. A pass to Futu, whose attempt was repelled by the rival keeper.

After the second cooling break, María Farfán and Olmedo stepped on to the pitch, replacing Bertuchi and Futu.

The remainder of play was open, but without any specific options to change the score.

With this draw, MCFF have 37 points and will again play at home in the upcoming match against CFF Albacete.
