Fateful night at the Reale Arena (2-0)

Málaga CF suffered defeat in San Sebastián away to ‘Sanse’. Locals Karrikaburu (35’) and Roberto López (52’) determined the final score.

The Blue and Whites – wearing black on this occasion – visited the Reale Arena this Saturday night, four seasons after the last duel at the old Anoeta.

As for the match, equality prevailed during half time. The Malaguistas, well-positioned on the pitch, were solid in defence and dominated possession in the wide area.

However, the locals managed to take the lead 10 minutes before half-time. Karrikaburu scored the opener for the txurri urdin side (1-0, min 35).

After the goal, Natxo González’s men advanced lines in search of an equaliser. However, they failed to reach the rival area with precision, and the locals were still 1-0 up at half-time.

At the start of the second half, MCF and ‘Sanse’ continued the fight to control possession in midfield. The Real reserve team managed to increase their lead in 53’ thanks to Roberto López.

Following the goal, the Costa del Sol side went all out on the attack, frequenting the rival area.

The Blue and Whites came close to narrowing the gap in 61’. Javi Jiménez sent a precise cross from the left to the heart of the area. Brandon wasn’t able to connect with the ball that ended up at the far post that was subsequently cleared to a corner by a local defender.

Brandon was again close to the 1-2. After a great counterattack, Febas sent a low pass from the left for the number ‘9’, who didn’t manage to overcome the rapid txurri urdin defence in 74’.

The locals scored, from an offside position, a third goal in 76’, the work of Clemente, but the goal was disallowed.

In the closing stages of the regulation 90 minutes, the referee consulted the VAR for a possible foul on the Malaguistas, but the referee dismissed the penalty after the review.

At full-time, Real Sociedad B claimed a 2-0 win at their home ground.
