Escassi: “I want to apologise to all the Malaguistas”

The Malaguista midfielder spoke to the Club media following the match against Burgos CF, corresponding to LaLiga SmartBank matchday 18. “As one of the captains, I’m very sorry,” he said.

Following the match in Burgos, Escassi said “it’s been a very tough afternoon. Beyond the result, we must be self-critical and recognise that we didn’t compete as well as the rival. In this division, if you don’t give 100 per cent, what happened today will happen,” he stated.

The Malaguista number ‘23’ was critical of the team’s performance. “They beat us in all facets of the match, and the Second Division is not at all forgiving. We have to wake up. We’ve been saying it for several weeks, we can’t go from the performance we give at home and then away from home do this. This needs to be resolved as the matches are passing us by. We were determined to get our third win on the bounce and reach the top six, but it wasn’t to be,” he added.

He didn’t want to miss the chance to send a message to the Malaguista fans who were at El Plantío today and those watching from home: “It was very painful. I’d like to apologise to all the Malaguistas who came here, spent money and time, and travelled such a long way to support the team. As one of the captains, I’m very sorry. Thanks for your constant unconditional support,” he said.
