Youssef En-Nesyri was in Morocco’s starting-11 against Ivory Coast, with the North African side gaining a pass to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup, taking place in Gabon.
Following Burkina Faso and Koné’s recent qualification to the second and decisive stage of the African tournament, on Tuesday evening, Youssef En-Nesyriand Morocco also reached the quarter-finals. The Malaguista striker, part of the starting line-up wearing the number ‘7’ shirt on the left wing, was very active during the 90 minutes and assisted in Morocco’s victory goal – a spectacular goal from Rachid Alioui in the second half, that served to defeat the last Africa champions, Ivory Coast, by 1-0.
Morocco ended in second place in Group C of the competition, with 6 points, and qualify to the quarter-finals along with Democratic Republic of the Congo (7 points). Ivory Coast (2 points) and Togo (1 point) have been eliminated. Morocco’s rival in the next round, the winner of Group D, which will be decided between Ghana and Egypt.
