Málaga CF will compete at the Nuevo El Maulí Stadium against Antequera CF in the 52nd edition of the 'Ciudad de El Torcal' trophy, which will serve as Antequera's presentation match in front of their fans on Saturday 19th July.
In the midst of their preparations for the 2025/26 season, Málaga CF will face one of the most iconic teams in the province. Antequera CF, who play in the Primera Federación, had an outstanding season, finishing 5th in Group 2 of Spain’s third division and reaching the promotion playoffs for LALIGA HYPERMOTION.
The Antequera side, led by former Malaguistas Alberto Aguilar and Álvaro Silva in the sporting department and newly coached by Abel Gómez, himself a former Málaga CF ‘B’ player, is a traditional preseason rival for Málaga Club de Fútbol.
In fact, Antequera CF was Málaga CF’s opponent two summers ago in the most recent edition of the Costa del Sol Cup, held at La Rosaleda, where Sergio Pellicer’s Málaga side claimed a 2-1 victory.
The excellent relationship between Málaga CF and Antequera CF was also reflected in the Antequera club’s signing of the Club’s Framework Agreement this past February.
This new friendly matchup reaffirms the historic and sporting ties that unite both clubs, in what will be one of the most special fixtures of the upcoming preseason. The kickoff time is yet to be confirmed.
