Press conference

Einar: “People are really into the team; we’re seeing ‘Malagamanía’ in the streets”

The Basque centre-back spoke to the media this afternoon at La Rosaleda. “We now have a test in front of our fans at La Rosaleda, and it will be very important for us this month,” he said during the press conference.

Preseason

“It's about getting into rhythm, building fitness, and getting to know the new teammates. Everyone has adapted really well to the team. Now we have a test at La Rosaleda with our fans, and this month will be very important for us at La Rosaleda.”

Step up in quality
“We want a bit more, but we have to be aware that the main thing is to achieve the first objective. And tighten the screws to take a step up in quality, hopefully that's the case, and compete for bigger things without losing sight of our main goal.”

Montero and competition

“He’s an outgoing guy, he already knew some people on the team; and he’s welcome, he’s here to contribute, and hopefully he has lots of success in Málaga and we can enjoy it with him.”

“There are four centre-backs competing for those spots. What’s good for the team is good for me. We’re all rowing in the same direction.”

Daily improvement and Rosaleda

“There have been small changes in our day-to-day aimed at improvement and taking that step forward. All the work being done is heading in that direction.”

“Starting with our fans gives us that extra boost. Last year we became quite strong at La Rosaleda, and we want to keep being just as strong at home because we know the atmosphere there, and we want to give something back to the fans.”

Costa del Sol Cup and Real Betis

“It’s the last preseason match before LaLiga. The excitement is more on the side of the fans and the people around the club, because some important figures are back here; we’re going to go out and compete, as it’s the final test before the start of LaLiga.”

“Former Málaga players at Betis? There are some really important names from that era, I used to follow them, I watched them. They’re people who left a mark here and are remembered with a lot of affection. They’re well-known names tied to Málaga, so there’s going to be a great atmosphere, and that helps the fans and fuels that excitement.”

‘Malagamanía’

“We’re really happy with those renewal numbers, it means people are connected to the team. Seeing that ‘Malagamanía’ in the streets… and for our part, we’re going to give everything on the pitch. Let it never be said we didn’t give our all. The fans should feel proud of their team and their badge. That’s the minimum requirement, and we’re going to deliver it.”
