Duda: “We didn’t win, but we gained a point which is the important thing”

Málaga CF players, along with coach Manuel Pellegrini, held a press conference in the mixed zone following the match against RCD Espanyol at the Cornellá-El Prat stadium.

Statements from Manuel Pellegrini:
“We played well, following a demanding UEFA Champions League match midweek.  We were determined to score from the very first minute, creating various goal opportunities.  I don’t think the refereeing influenced the final result at all.  We performed well against a good team, responded well and were determined to win.  We made some important rotations as it’s tough to recover from a match in under three days.”

Statements from Seba Fernández:
“We would have liked to have come away with three points, though I think the result was fair.  We created several goal opportunities, though should have generated more as the game went on.  We needed to rotate some of the players, so now we need to focus on returning to winning ways.  We’re pleased with our performance and the point we earned from this match.”

Statements from Duda:
“The attitude of the entire team was excellent throughout the game, but we weren’t lucky enough to score.  From a personal point of view I’m pleased with my performance, and I’m not tired at all.  We gave a strong display on the pitch, and although we didn’t win we gained a point which is the important thing.  We play the same football whether the owner is present or not, and always work as hard as we can, though I think it’s definitely a motivation when he’s there watching us.”

Statements from Martín Demichelis:
“We didn’t suffer too much this afternoon.  We’re going through a really great time right now, but need to ensure we’re prepared for the forthcoming matches.  There are enough of us to enable to rotate players, and now it’s time to rest and recover.”
