Dioni, first signing for Málaga CF 23/24

Dioni Villalba joins the Blue and Whites next season, a striker who arrives on a free transfer from Atlético Baleares to contribute experience and goals. The player has signed for two seasons.

Dionisio Emanuel Villalba Rojano (Málaga, 21/12/1989) is an experienced, dynamic striker with a great eye for goals.

At 33 years old, Dioni has had an extensive career behind him in the national third division. He arrives on a free transfer from Atlético Baleares, where last year in 1ª RFEF he played 37 games, generating 19 goals for the island team -14 goals and five assists. A year earlier (21/22) he once again enjoyed an outstanding campaign, with 18 goals and two assists.

His best goal-scoring season was in 16/17, when, in 41 games for CF Fuenlabrada, he managed to score 26 times in the old Segunda División ‘B’, becoming the Group 2 ‘pichichi’.

Dioni passed through the Málaga CF youth ranks before beginning his busy career with multiple national teams. The forward moved through the ranks of RC Deportivo, Cádiz CF, CD Leganés, Hércules de Alicante CF, Real Oviedo, Real Racing Club, CF Fuenlabrada, Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa and Atlético Baleares, as well as a brief spell in Poland with Lech Poznan.

His career has focused on Spain’s bronze division, where he is a differential player. Dioni has accumulated 168 goals in the regular competition - Segunda División ‘B’ and 1ª RFEF – in addition to another three goals in the playoffs for promotion to the Second Division.

The arrival of the striker marks Málaga CF’s first incorporation for the 23/24 season. Enthusiasm and determination to defend the Blue and White colours of his hometown team, be a benchmark for the young players and, as he has been doing throughout his career, delight the fans.

Welcome to Málaga, Dioni! Welcome to your home!
