Dely Valdés: “We suffered but also enjoyed ourselves during this match”

The Juvenil DH coach analyses the victory against FC Barcelona in the first match of the Copa de Campeones: “The match played out as we had predicted, we knew we’d have our opportunities”.

Victory against FC Barcelona

“The truth is it was an incredible match in which we suffered but also enjoyed ourselves. The match played out as we had predicted, we knew that in the majority of phases of the game we’d struggle without possession, which is something we’re not used to. The preparation for this game was that: suffer, suffer and suffer. However, we had our opportunities and knew we had to be bold and make the most of them”.

Next rival – RC Celta de Vigo

“From what I’ve seen, I liked their guys upfront a lot. They’re solid in defence, with good stature and upfront are pretty strong. We have to remember that they’re playing at home, and are extremely motivated to have reached the semi-finals. However, we are just as motivated following the match we played today”.

Co-existence and union with the group

“In Málaga’s recent training sessions and over the three days we’ve been here, we’ve improved such a lot as a group. The team is far more united, there’s a great relationship between the boys, which is wonderful. It helps us, as managers, and makes our job easier”.
