Dani Sánchez: “Focused on each game, and really looking forward to Saturday”

The Málaga fullback spoke this Wednesday in the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda, three days before hosting CD Leganés. “I see the team doing very well, but our best moment hasn’t arrived yet,” he stated.

Feelings about returning to the starting lineup

“I felt really good, it was an exciting match for me. I had a chance to start, and I wanted to make the most of it by enjoying the experience. I want to maintain this level, I’m very motivated for the remaining months of the season.”

Overcoming adversities

“Life is made up of moments. The season has been tough, but it’s helping me learn. It’s the first time I’ve been injured, and I’ve experienced it differently. I’m super motivated, I’ve felt the support from the fans, which is a big bonus. We have a magical fanbase, and that’s incredibly important.”

Back to his roots

“I’ve always been the same. What has changed is seeing things from a different perspective, knowing where I came from, that I came from humble beginnings, and that I work to the maximum every day. I’ve enjoyed it in a different way, I’m happy and eager to achieve things. I consider myself important, and that’s why I’ve stayed here.

Mental low in November

“I experienced it in a very natural way. I hadn’t planned to write that post, that night I felt inspired, and it came out well. It was a tough moment, but I consider myself lucky to have gone through that stage, mental strength is very important. I’m at a very good level, both physically and mentally; it did me good.”

Supported by Malaguismo

“I’ve felt the support from the people, I’m extremely grateful to my family, those close to me, and the fans, who have always been by my side.”

Competition at left-back

“In a natural, calm, and simple way. It’s the most normal thing in football, every position has competition, and it’s healthy. I’m super motivated, even if there are two more teammates, the level rises in every position, and everyone puts in the effort. The teammates who start matches do so just like those on the field.”

Good moment for the team

“I see the team doing very well, focused every week. We still have many things to improve to be the best team in the league, our best moment hasn’t arrived yet. We stay focused, game by game, and are really looking forward to Saturday. Leganés isn’t built to be where they are, they just came off scoring five goals.”

Psychological support

“With the help of professionals. I’ve worked with many psychologists, both with Fernando (González) and others from outside. I recommend it to people, don’t hesitate to seek them out because they help a lot. I’ve been doing very well, improving week by week, and I’m super happy and really content.”

Absence due to injury

“On an individual level, when I was out, I suffered a little because a footballer wants to be there and be involved. I’m happy for the team, which is performing spectacularly. We stay calm, living in the moment, we’re like kids enjoying ourselves and honouring the badge we wear. We’re eager to give our best version because our moment hasn’t arrived yet.”

Rafita’s breakthrough

“I’m very happy for him and for all the teammates who are performing at that level. He’s shown a very good level, like the youth players here. It’s a shame about his injury, but he’ll be back soon, and I’m really happy for him.”

Return to the JP Financial Estadio

“I knew I had a chance to play. When the coach told me, I felt calm and focused on enjoying the opportunity, and I experienced it with a lot of joy and emotion. It was a really nice match for everyone. Being in the starting line-up and providing an assist to my namesake made me extremely happy.”

Renewal of The Academy’s values

“Spectacular, the results are showing on the pitch. Loren and the board maintain a very attractive model, and we’re taking steps forward. I’m happy for my teammates’ contract renewals because they’ve earned them themselves.”
