Cruel defeat in a closely contested match at El Alcoraz (1-0)
Málaga CF suffered a loss in their visit to SD Huesca on matchday 35 of LaLiga Hypermotion. A stoppage-time goal by Javi Pérez secured the victory for the home side.
Málaga CF and SD Huesca faced off on LALIGA HYPERMOTION matchday 35 at El Alcoraz. Around a hundred Málaga supporters were in the stands cheering on the team. On the pitch, Pellicer made some changes and lined up the following starting-11: Alfonso Herrero; Gabilondo, Nelson Monte, Pastor, Einar, Víctor; Manu N. Molina, Juanpe; D. Larrubia, Lobete, and Chupe.
Although the match began at a slow pace with no clear dominance from either side, Juanpe created two early chances for Málaga CF.
In the 5th minute, after a cross from the wing by Gabilondo, the Jerez-born Juanpe came close, sending the ball just wide of D. Jiménez’s post. Around the 10th minute, he had another chance with a powerful shot from the edge of the box, but the home goalkeeper managed to parry it away.
For their part, Huesca had a double chance just before half-time, but Alfonso made the initial save and Juanpe cleared the rebound.
With the score still 0-0 at El Alcoraz, the teams went into the break. After half-time, the match remained largely the same, with plenty of midfield battles and very few clear chances. Dioni and Izan M. were the first substitutions, coming on around the hour mark.
Around the 65th minute, the referee awarded a penalty for a handball by Nelson Monte. However, after a VAR review, he overturned the decision, the ball had struck the player’s shoulder/side.
Antoñito C. also came on in the second half (73rd minute), replacing Lobete.
With just three minutes remaining in regulation time, Pellicer brought on Baturina and C. Puga (87’) in an attempt to push the team forward into the opposition’s box. However, in the 97th minute, just when the draw seemed secured, Javi Pérez scored the decisive goal after a run following a turnover, beating Alfonso Herrero to make it 1-0.
The result leaves Málaga CF with 42 points after 35 matchdays in LALIGA HYPERMOTION, sitting in 17th place, just three points above the relegation zone.
