Condolences for the death of Benjamín Ríos

Málaga Club de Fútbol deeply regrets the passing of the former CD Málaga player, between 1962 and 1964, Benjamín Ríos Gil.

Ríos arrived at CD Málaga from UD Las Palmas in the 1962/63 season, in the First Division.  He made his League debut against RCD Mallorca and took part in 18 League matches that season, as well as the Copa del Generalísimo.  The Martiricos Club, then coached by Barinaga and Chales, was relegated to the Second Division.  Then in 1963/64, Ríos played eight Second Division games and one Cup clash, under the orders of Riera first, then Zárraga.

During the 1963/64 season, Ríos scored his only goals with CD Málaga.  They were against CD Tenerife in the 2nd match of the season, and CD Eldense in the 22nd game.  Both matches were at La Rosaleda, and both with the same result: 3-0 to Málaga.  In 1964, Ríos left the ‘Malaguista’ outfit and signed to Second Division side, Atlético Ceuta.

Málaga Club de Fútbol sends deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Benjamín Ríos Gil.
