Clear victory ahead of the Cup challenge (4-0)

Victory for Málaga Femenino against UCD La Cañada Atlético on matchday 16 of Group 4 Primera Nacional. A superb triumph against the team at the bottom of the standings to further bolster the girls’ place at the top.

It was a chilly Saturday afternoon at Roma Luz, MCFF’s impenetrable ground this season. On the pitch, Ayala’s starting-11 consisted of María Arrabal, Farfán, Olmedo, Yoli, Elena, Marta Arias, María Cortés, Lorena, Teté, Judith and Torralvo.

During the first half, La Cañada withstood the Malaguista dominance as well as they could, and the first goal didn’t arrive until just before half-time. A psychological own goal, with the help of Judith, that put Málaga in front (1-0, 43’).

In the second half, the other three goals came. No sooner had play resumed, Sonia Torralvo scored the team’s second goal of the game (2-0, 46’). The Granada-born striker completed her brace a few minutes later (3-0, 58’). Fourteen goals in 14 league games for the team’s ‘pichichi’. Just before the final whistle, one of the team captains, Clo, completed the team’s big win (4-0, 90’).

Three more points and the 15th win (plus one draw) in 16 League matches for Málaga CF, the imperial leader of the competition, well ahead of second-placed Badajoz.

Tomorrow, Sunday Ayala’s girls have a free day. Training is scheduled on Monday and Tuesday ahead of Wednesday’s Copa de la Reina clash at La Rosaleda (17:00) against Rayo Vallecano Femenino. Vamos, Málaga!
