Tough defeat against Ibiza (0-5)

Málaga CF lost to UD Ibiza, at La Rosaleda, on matchday 24 of LaLiga SmartBank. Paco Jémez’s men were superior and fairly claimed victory.

It was a cold night at Martiricos. On the pitch, in relation to the last home game, José Alberto made two changes: Isma Casas – captain - for Víctor Gómez (viral infection) on the right wing and Febas in midfield in place of Escassi, who was suspended from this game.

Paco Jémez’s Ibiza came out with a lot of personality on the pitch. In the 9th minute, following a corner, Guerrero threatened, then two minutes later, a play on the right by ex Malaguista Cifu was converted by Sergio Castel (0-1, 11’) after hitting the crossbar.

MCF reacted straight away. Led by Paulino, there were opportunities in 19’ and 20’ with attempts by Roberto and Brandon. In 28’ a lateral free kick from Paulino, headed by Roberto, landed in the hands of the rival keeper. Ibiza, forceful in their actions without the ball, were shown numerous yellow cards throughout the first half. After 45 minutes, the score was 0-1.

In the second half, Paulino headed a cross from Kevin into the keeper’s hands in 49’. Immediately afterwards, the second goal for the visitors arrived, and the first of the night for Cristian Herrera (0-2, 51’). Two minutes later, Escobar increased their lead (0-3, 53’). Unstoppable in terms of effectiveness, everything was going right for Ibiza. Herrera, with a direct free kick that touched a Blue and White player, scored the fourth goal for Paco’s men (0-4, 58’).

Sekou and Vadillo came on in place of Kevin and Roberto in minute 59 of play. Vadillo, with a direct free kick, tried his luck in 62’. Dani Martin prevented the fifth goal in 68’ following a shot by Guerrero. Hicham and Cufré for Paulino and Javi Jiménez were the Blue and White substitutions in 72’. Goldar, with a superb header from a corner kick, completed UD Ibiza’s scoring tally (0-5, 80’).

Homegrown player Andrés Caro in the 80th minute was José Alberto’s final substitution, coming on in place of Aleix Febas. There were no more changes to the scoreboard, confirming the team’s poor streak at home, claiming just one point out of the last possible 12 at Martiricos.
