Chory: "Luckily in Málaga there’s a great group"

The midfielder affirms that “the team’s mentality is to win, regardless of the rival.”

Physical state

“I feel good.  I’m regaining positive sensations and trying to reach 100 per cent as soon as possible.  I suffered slight discomfort following a bad movement, a muscle strain, but we’ve done a great job with the medical team so I think I’ll return to the group this afternoon or tomorrow.  It’s important, as LaLiga is just around the corner.”

Carranza Cup

“The idea, aside from having positive sensations and feeling good, is to win.  The team’s mentality from the start has been to go out and win every match, regardless of the rival.  I believe this comes from always trying to do our best, and of course we want to win the Carranza Cup, as will the other three teams.  Therefore, by staying calm and focusing on what the coach asks of us, we’ll try and win the tournament.”

Group

“It’s very healthy to compete with your teammates.  Luckily in Málaga there’s a great group.  Whenever you get a chance to play, the others support and encourage you in the best way possible.  It’s certainly true, when Málaga wins, then you succeed individually, it’s hard for one player to triumph and not the team.  The idea is clear, here we achieve things as a group, and if it’s not your turn, then you support your teammates and help them make sure everything goes well.  Later, during the week, the coach will have a tough decision as to which players to select.  We’re doing very well, all competition is healthy and is good for the group.”

Federico Ricca

“He finished very strongly, he’s playing well, is extremely keen and has a great hunger to triumph in Europe.  He showed this last season, and during the games he played he performed very well and fulfilled his role.  We’ll see how he does this year, we still don’t know which team he’ll join or who will play, but I see him well prepared to work under the orders of the coach.”

Michael Santos

“Without doubt, I think the changes can be costly, although the pre-season is different to taking part in competition.  However, I think he’ll adapt very quickly to the pitch, and will be a great support in his position.  Hopefully he’ll bring goals, which is what his position is for, and also help the team defensively.  When it comes to scoring he’s an important part of the team.”

Start of LaLiga

“From a personal point of view I ended last season well, as did the entire team.  We’re looking forward to a strong start to the upcoming season, which I think is crucial.  We mustn’t let go of those teams, as our aim is to be at the top fighting for Europe.  We want to put our stamp on the competition from the start, knowing that coming up against a newly-promoted rival won’t be easy.”
