Child’s play (Segunda Andaluza Alevín)

Meet the team ending the 7-a-side football in MCF’s academy, and see their triumphs and challenges still to come this season.

The players from the 2nd Andaluza Alevín team in MCF’s La Academia are from the 2004 generation.  Over Easter they were proclaimed champions of SD de Formentera and secured a well-deserved second place in the prestigious CD Vera Tournament.  Also, last weekend they won LaLiga and are now focused on the next big challenges: the Copa de Andalucía and the National Alevín 7-a-side Tournament, or as it’s more widely known, the Brunete Tournament.

This squad is the last team within Málaga CF’s youth ranks who play 7-a-side, and next season will compete in the 11-a-side format.  The coach, Rafael Morales, tells MCFTV how he teaches his players the skills of 11-a-side football so as the change next season won’t be so extreme:

“One of the premises is to equip the team with skills so the 11-a-side format is not so hard for them.  When the team plays a 7-a-side game, they use some of the 11-player skills, so it is instilled from the beginning of the season.”

Accompany MCFTV to the match where the Alevín team were proclaimed League champions, and witness the celebrations that Málaga CF Board of Directors member, Sheikh Nayef Al Thani didn’t want to miss.
