Chavarría brings experience and versatility to the attack

The forward arrives on a free transfer after leaving RCD Mallorca, and signs for one season until the end of 2020/21.

The 32-year-old Italian-Argentinean player signed his contract with Málaga CF this Monday for the 2020/21 campaign.

Beginnings in his native Argentina

Pablo Alejandro Chavarría (02/01/1988, Las Perdices, Argentina) is a forward of 1,85 metres in height, who also performs as a winger. His first years as a footballer were with Belgrano de Córdoba, where he arrived in the youth ranks in 2003, making his debut with the first team on 9th September 2008, at 20 years of age, against Chacarita Juniors, and scoring his first goal on 12th October of that year at Aldosovi. During the two years he was with Belgrano, 2008/09 and 2009/10, he played a total of 64 matches, 62 in Primera Nacional B and two Promoción matches, scoring 11 goals.

Move to Europe via Belgium

In July 2010, Chavarría crossed the pond and signed to Belgian outfit RSC Anderlecht, with whom he played six matches in the first half of the 2010/11 season, scoring two goals. During the winter transfer window, he was loaned out to another Belgian side, KAS Eupen, playing 14 matches amongst all competitions and scoring seven goals in the second part of the season. The following two seasons he was on loan to KV Kortrijk, where he enjoyed great continuity, playing 78 games and scoring 13 goals.

Two spells in France

In the summer of 2013, Chavarría moved to French club Racing Club Lens, where he moved up from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1 in his first season, 13/14, being a key player in this achievement, netting 10 goals in 32 league games, as well as another in his four Cup appearances. In 14/15 he played 31 matches in the top flight of French football and scored seven goals. During his last year with Lens, in Ligue 2, he scored four goals and made five assists. In the 16/17 season he arrived on a free transfer to Stade Reims in Ligue 2, where he started the second block of his three seasons in France. In the first season, he played 27 matches, scored seven goals and two goal assists. In the second, 17/18, he played all 38 games, scored 14 goals, made nine assists, and won Ligue 1 promotion. He ended his time in France in 18/19, taking part in 30 games, scoring five goals and making three assists.

LaLiga participation

Pablo Chavarría arrived at our league with RCD Mallorca last season, 19/20. There he played a total of 15 matches, 13 in LaLiga Santander and two in the Copa del Rey.

A globetrotter who joins the Malaguista family to bring his experience to the attack. Lots of luck, Chavarría!
