Charles: "We have the same excitement as the fans”

The striker kicks off his second season with Málaga CF: “I hope it’s an exciting season, both for us and the fans, who give us strength and support in the stadium.”

Workload

“I’m pretty tired, which I think is normal at this point in the pre-season.  The first training sessions are to help us gain pace, and both myself and my teammates are a little tired, but that’s normal.”

First matches

“I think the team is picking up the things the coach wants, we’re adapting well to what he requests of us and what he wants us to do on the pitch.”

Young and new players

“We knew the young players from the reserve team from last season, they came to train with us, and those that have arrived are adapting very well to the team.  I also believe that our team is an easy one to adapt to.  I speak for myself, as when I arrived last year, I found it very straightforward fitting in, and we always try and help new players.  I don’t think they’ve got any complaints, and are 100 per cent adapted to the group.”

One or two strikers

“The coach decides the system.  I don’t mind with whom I play, what I want to do is play.  I always try and do my best to help the team, and we’re on the right track.”

Excitement

“We are extremely excited, as are the fans who convey their excitement on social networks or in the street.  I hope it’s an exciting season, both for us playing, and the fans who give us strength and support in the stadium.  I hope we do things right and improve on our performance last season.”

Stay in Holland

“I’d prefer to be at home with my son, but I’ve taken part in plenty of pre-seasons, they’re an essential part of football.  Coming here to this country, with this climate helps us during the pre-season.”

Continuing at Málaga

“The offer I had was from Asia.  I think we all know.  However, the market closed there two weeks ago, and it was always my idea to stay here.  I spoke to the sports director at the time, and told him I wanted to stay here and would only leave if I received a good offer for me and the Club.  I’m here, very happy, as are my family.  I feel very comfortable in Málaga, being part of this dressing room, and my teammates like me, as do the fans.  When that happens, you always want to stay and do your best.”

Arrival of another striker

“We’re in the First Division.  The competition is good and we’re part of the best League in the world.  The best players on the planet are in this League, and we have to be used to that.  If it’s to improve the team, he’ll be well received.  We’ll welcome another striker as we welcome all new members of the team, as I was welcomed last season.  If another striker arrives it will better the team, as we’re all very excited about the season ahead, and want to improve on last year.  I’ll do my best and the coach will decide.”
