Cenk Gönen complements Málaga Club de Fútbol goal

Goalkeeper, Cenk Gönen arrives from Galatasaray SK and signs to the Club until 2019/20. The Turkish international recently passed the medical and is already working alongside his new teammates.

Career

The 29-year old keeper was born in Izmir (Turkey), is 1’90 metres tall, and completed his training at Göztepe and Denizlispor in his home country. With the latter, he played 35 matches in the Süper Lig between 2008 and 2010, which led to him signing to one of the great Ottoman outfits, Besiktas JK, as well as Turkey’s Under-21s.

Besiktas and Galatasaray

Gönen remained with Besiktas for five seasons (2010-2105), winning the Turkish Cup in the 2010/11 campaign. In 2015 he joined Galatasaray, where he again claimed the Cup title, playing five games in the tournament in 2015/16. Last season he competed in eight matches in the Turkish Cup, a competition in which he has regularly been in the starting line-up during his professional career.

Cenk Gönen has played with Turkey’s national team on two occasions, in international games against Georgia and Finland in 2012.
