Cazorla: “We’ve got to play a perfect game”

The Asturias-born Blue and Whites midfielder, Santi Cazorla, spoke to sports journalists this morning in the press room of the Ciudad de Málaga stadium.

Cazorla’s statements:

(Real Madrid). “It’s always good to get to the next match having won the previous one, but we’ve got to turn the page after the defeat with Levante.  We’ve got to play a very complete match, Madrid has enormous potential, and we’ve got to play a perfect game.  Apart from Cristiano for the goals, I’m also thinking about the quality of Özil.  They’re a massive rival and we all want to have a great match.

(Levante). “Many things happened; there were a few details that damaged us, and the team fell at the last hurdle.  We’ve got to improve to overcome the closed-off defences and on that we’ve been working day after day.”

(Good match). “I’ve got friends in many teams, and also in Madrid, and it’s always nice to play teammates from the national side.  There are acquaintances, but I’m not thinking about them right now, I’m focusing no Málaga.  As time goes on I’m more and more at ease and I’m feeling really great.”

(Cuurent affairs). “The referee – Mateu Lahoz – is never influenced, we can all make mistakes but that’s not going to happen in this game.  Those we’re playing are very quick and they do it very well, and we’re going to go after the ball as that’s what puts us at ease.  If there’s no Julio Baptista or Willy, well, it’s down to the rest of us; there are other teammates who can do it well.  Not playing mid-week? I take it well, you rest a lot and hopefully next year we’re going to go to Europe.”

(Rival / Fans / Villarreal). “With Villareal we never beat them, only one year with Recre, but each match is different and hopefully Málaga will win. The fans? They’re an important part of any team moving up, and we’ve got to give them a ten out of ten as they’re fantastic. Villareal? Sometimes teams go through bad patches, but I’m sure they’ll fight for European positions.  Our objective is to be in Europe next year.”

(Rubén / Coaches). “Rubén must be feeling vilified and we completely trust him.  He’s calm and hopefully on Saturday everything will work out well.  Mourinho and Pellegrini?  He’s a guarantees titles, and the boss has already demonstrated that at Villareal and Real Madrid.”

(Toulalan). “He’s a fundamental player for the support and balance that he gives, it’s an honour to have him behind you, he’s like a life insurance policy.  Similar to Senna? Yes, his skill is not valued the same though, like Bruno also, they’re both fundamental players in a team.”
