The midfielder held a press conference in the mixed zone at the Sánchez Pizjuán: “We’re upset, but we fought until the end.”

Fix mistakes

“We’re sad as we let points escape, but the team fought until the end and we tried our best.  We need to continue on this line of work, take the positives from this match and fix the mistakes we made.  There is a long way to go in the League competition and the next match is a tough one against Barcelona, so we’ll need to work hard in order to make things difficult for them.”

Good impression

“We gave a good impression.  In football the reality are the results and the three points, the more the better.  However, the team continued to give a good impression which is important.  We responded well from being 2-0 down at a difficult ground.  We’re upset with the defeat but the team reacted well.”

Two mistakes

“The two isolated mistakes took place during a time in which we weren’t sure if they were due to relaxation or footballing errors which cost us the match.  That’s football.  They have very good skills, and up until this point we were controlling the game, knowing the type of players we were up against and how to counteract them.”

Controversial play

“A lot of damage was done here.  One of our teammates was hurt and the referee determined the act as a collision between them.  Due to the danger of a blow to the head, many referees would have stopped the match, regardless of whether it had been a foul or not.  Each ref has their own ideas about this, though I think the match could have been stopped as it was a dangerous play.”

Line to follow

“I don’t think the elbow was intentional, but for me it was a foul, and this led to the rival scoring the second goal.  However, the result isn’t the fault of the referee, we must continue on this line as we played well against a major rival.  We’ve got a difficult game coming up on Saturday, and we expect to give our all as we have been doing.”

Good dynamic at home

“I think we’ve had several matches in which we’ve performed very well, particularly at home, we’re very strong.  La Rosaleda is our fortress.”
