Camacho: “We are a team all heading in the same direction”
Malaguista player, Ignacio Camacho held a press conference this afternoon at the Ciudad de Málaga stadium: “We need to focus on our strengths in order to win matches” says the player from Zaragoza.
Draw with Madrid
“The praise lasts as long as it lasts. We can’t let what people say affect us, in both the good times and bad. We earned a point from this game, the reality is it’s only a point, but I think it’s positive. We knew it was going to be uncomfortable for them, the team held on well and it turned out to be a pretty good game. However, that’s over now, so we must focus on the three very important points in play at the weekend against a rival in the same boat as us. The second round clash is going to be tough, both upfront and at the back. The sooner we secure permanency the better, so we can relax a little.”
Real Sociedad, next rival
“Real are a team who have pace upfront and the ability to score goals. There are also discerning players in midfield who know how to play. We need to focus on our strengths in order to win matches, this is the way forward. With regards to my yellow card and subsequent suspension, it was a very quick move, I tried to put my leg forward, Marcelo stopped me and the referee saw fit to give me a yellow card.”
Good time, from a personal aspect
“I’m feeling good, match-fit, and ready to play as many minutes as possible. The way to regain rhythm is by playing matches and trying your best. I always try and help my teammates, balance out the attacks and the pressure upfront. At the end of the day, we’re 11 players on the pitch and a team all heading in the same direction. It helps a lot when the team plays well, and victories give us confidence. Every player has room for improvement, so we must focus on the day to day in order to better ourselves.”
Eurocopa with Spain, a dream
“It’d be a reward for me on a personal level, as well as for Málaga. It’s the result of all our hard work and I need to be at a good level. If the moment arrives I’ll be really proud, and if not, I’ll keep working hard. I’m still young, and if the call comes, I’ll be thrilled.”
