Blood and Bone Marrow Drive returns to La Rosaleda

On Wednesday 12th April, the MCF Foundation is organising the massive blood and bone marrow drive at the Martiricos facilities, between 09:30 and 14:00 and 16:30 and 21:00. Fans who take part in the drive will receive two tickets for the Málaga CF - FC Ca

La Rosaleda will once again become the headquarters of the Regional Centre for Blood Transfusion of Málaga (CRTS) on Wednesday 12th April between 09:30 and 14:00 and 16:30 and 21:00. After several seasons being forced to stop due to the Covid pandemic, this campaign is back.

“We’ve been collaborating for many years. We had a break due to the pandemic, but it was on our agenda to resume the campaign that’s so important to the lives of many people. It’s an honour and a responsibility to promote this type of campaign,” said Lucas Rodríguez, coordinator of the MCF Foundation.

The relationship between MCF and the CRTS goes back to 1998. Since then, Malaguistas have shown their solidarity by altruistically contributing a large quantity of blood to the banks within our province. Now, in a situation where some 250 daily donations are necessary to keep up with demand, the Blue and White fans are once again crucial.

“Thanks to Málaga CF and its Foundation. We are returning to normality after the pandemic, excited about this new campaign. We have a slogan: one bag of donated blood saves three lives,” said Emilio Alonso, medical coordinator of the Transfusion, Tissues and Cells Centre of Málaga.

As such, Málaga CF, via the MCF Foundation, is resuming the Blood and Bone Marrow Donation Day, taking place on Wednesday 12th April at La Rosaleda’s facilities. In return, the Club will give two tickets for #MálagaCartagena for each donation of either blood or bone marrow (while stocks last).

A few seasons ago, the collection of samples for future possible bone marrow donations was included in the campaign. This action is fully compatible with blood donation and allows health centres to locate donors in case of a match with a patient.

“For Malaguistas who want to donate, La Rosaleda’s doors are open to everyone,” added Lucas, whilst Emilio encourages “all citizens and Malaguistas to get involved so the day is a success.”
