Josep Clotet’s boys began the match full of conviction which continued throughout the first half.  The visitors struggled on the wing, with both Fabrice and Samu Castillejo regularly throwing their rivals off balance.  As time went on, the Blue and Whites began to create more goal opportunities and stepped up their attacking display.  Following several near misses, Castillejo opened the scoring for Málaga.
 
A sending off before half-time and another goal by Emilio in minute 44, left Atarfe at the mercy of Atlético Malagueño.  The ‘Malaguistas’ continued to dominate possession in the second half, creating goal chances with every move, ending the match with a reserved 4-0 victory.
