Baptista: “We’ve got some crucial matches coming up”

The Brazilian-born defender and tonight’s goal-scorer, Julio Baptista appeared on MCF TV in the mixed zone after the match against CA Osasuna, along with Willy Caballero and Camacho.

The striker and tonight’s goal-scorer, Julio Baptista states: “The team and the fans deserved this victory; we played a great game tonight, and although we didn’t get a goal in the first half, the important thing is that we scored in the second.”  Julio adds that he is getting more comfortable on the pitch the more he plays; “The reward is being able to play football.”  The Brazilian-born striker is confident the ‘Malaguistas’ can return to fourth place in the League: “We’ll get there.  We’ve got some crucial matches coming up, particularly next week, and we’ll fight to the death to reach our goals.”

Goalkeeper, Willy Caballero explains: “We needed a win tonight in order to keep in line with our European objective next year.  It’s essential that we catch up to Real Sociedad in the table in order to return to Champions League positions.  We were knocked out of the competition last week, but we’re determined to get back there next season.”

Camacho considers tonight’s win was well-deserved: “The only team with a good attacking form tonight was us, and we had numerous goal opportunities in the first half.  However the most important thing in football is scoring goals, and I think the entire team deserved this win tonight, particularly after Tuesday’s devastating defeat in Dortmund.  We’re all really pleased,” affirms the Blue and Whites’ midfielder.
