As the Brazilian footballer was presented with his award by SUR journalist and sports editor, Antonio Góngora, he thanked the team’s assistants and fans for their kindness which, according to Baptista, has allowed football to be reborn in the city.
The SUR ‘Malagueños of the Year’ ceremony took place in Málaga’s Palacio de Ferias y Congresos. The awards honour those who have shown commendable attributes over the previous 12 months. Also awarded at this year’s event were the president of Unicaja, Braulio Medel; Baroness Carmen Thyssen; the Marbella chef, Dani García and the head oncologist at the Hospital Clínico, Emilion Alba.
