Bank holiday training session at the Athletics Stadium
Málaga CF players were in training today, on this ‘Día de la Constitución’ bank holiday, at the Ciudad de Málaga Athletics Stadium. Diego Buonanotte held a press conference this morning.
The session consisted of continuous running, stretching, rounds, ball possession exercises, and a mini-match. Toulalan was absent today as he’s awaiting further tests on Monday to reveal the extent of his hamstring injury. Duda and Weligton exercised in the gym, both recovering from injuries to their left calf muscles, and Baptista is still working towards returning to match fitness. The players from Tuesday’s match against Anderlecht had a less intense session than the rest of the group. Reserve players weren’t present in training today as Atlético Malagueño are playing a previously postponed match.
The team returns to training tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. at La Rosaleda.
Buonanotte
“The most important thing, and what every footballer hopes for, is to play as many minutes as possible. On a personal level, I think I’m having a good season, and I need to ensure that I keep it up, make the most of all opportunities, and prove to the coach that be can count on me.”
“Some teams are stronger, others weaker, but we need to keep focused on the fact that in order to go as far as we can in any competition, we need to be able to defeat any team. We’re now concentrating totally on the League, and then it’ll be the turn of the Champions again. For now we’re only thinking about Saturday’s match, which is crucial for us to return to Champions League positions.”
“Our aim is to finish in third or fourth place like last season, so we need to perform as well as we can in the first round, so we don’t make things too difficult for ourselves in the second half of the season, in order to reach the Champions.”
“The Club is growing every day, so it’s important that we achieve as much as we can throughout the year. Our objective is of course to win every match we play. We’re looking forward to Saturday’s game, then we’ve got two fairly tough matches before Christmas before it’s time to focus on the Champions again.”
