Atlético Malagueño kick off the New Year away to group leaders

2015 marks the start of the second round of competition for Atlético Malagueño. The Blue and Whites’ reserve team are visiting Third Division Group 9 leaders, Linares Deportivo.

After the first round, Salva Ballesta’s boys are in third place in the group following 11 victories, three draws and five losses, with 36 points.  The most recent three points were earned in the last match of 2014 against Guadix CF thanks to two goals from Ernesto Cornejo.  Ballesta has Alberto López back in action for this match following his suspension last week, however Mauri is out as it was confirmed that he sustained an adductor muscle tear to his right leg.

Linares Deportivo welcome Atlético Malagueño as group leaders, 11 points ahead of the second-placed team and 13 more than the ‘Malaguistas’.  They have only drawn once so far this season and lost twice, neither was at their home ground, Linarejos, where they haven’t lost a game since September 2013.

Team line-up: Aarón, Godino (goalkeepers), Roy, Diego, Álex Portillo, Iván Rodríguez, Calero, Alberto López (defenders), Pablo, Paul, Deco, Mula, Ernesto Cornejo (midfielders), Ernesto Gómez, Zalea and Rufo (strikers).
