Atlético Malagueño defeats Jaén to maintain top spot (1-3)

The ‘Malaguista’ reserve team defeated Los Villares CF yesterday to remain at the top of the table along with Vélez CF with 21 points. Malagueño are still undefeated this season, with six wins and three draws out of nine League games.

Manel Ruano’s boys defeated Jaén-based Los Villares CF by 1-3.  The ‘Malaguista’ side came from a goal down, as in minute 38 Tote took advantage of an oversight in the Blue and White’s defence to outwit Aarón and put the locals in the lead.  Málaga CF’s second team didn’t hesitate, and equalised just five minutes later following a corner with an impressive shot from Fernando.  At half-time the scoreboard was 1-1.

Five minutes into the second half and Iván scored the Blue and Whites’ second goal of the game following a good counter attack that caught the local defence off guard.  The narrowness of the pitch and a solid defensive display by Los Villares CF impeded Malagueño’s play somewhat, however in the 89th minute, in another counter attack, Mula gave the Blue and Whites a 1-3 lead.  With this win, Atlético Malagueño shares the top of the leader board with Vélez, who is the Blue and Whites’ next rival at home.
