Another point at home against a compact rival (0-0)

It was all square for Málaga CF Femenino and CFF Albacete on matchday 22 of Segunda Federación Grupo Sur. A goalless draw in which the Blue and Whites were unable to pierce the visitor's goal.

On a warm Sunday morning at the Francisco Romero ground in Rincón de la Victoria, Juanma Gómez’s starting-11 was made up of Andrea; Encarni, Marta Arias, Ruth©, Yoli Peche; Olmedo, Merida, Tete, Bertuchi; Futu and Carmen Gomez. Due to the absence of suspended María Cortés, Silvia Mérida became the pivot and the reserve team player Marta occupied central defence along with captain Ruth.

From the outset, Málaga enjoyed more possession and control of the ball, but without the necessary punch in the attacking zone to take the lead on the scoreboard. Opposite, Albacete remained faithful to their game plan, withdrawn in defence awaiting a quick counter.

The best chance of the first half was for the visitors, with a shot from distance by Vane (19') that touched the crossbar of Andrea’s goal. Mérida (10'), with a header from a lateral free kick thrown by Bertuchi; Teté, with a left-footer that grazed the top corner (29'); and Futu, with a shot that came out near the rival goal (36'), were MCFF’s three main arrivals in the first half.

In the second half, Juanma introduced María Farfán for Yoli Peche on the left. In 62’, he made a triple substitution refreshing the wings with Cadete Carla and Marilén for Olmedo and Bertuchi, and with Tati replacing Teté in midfield.

Málaga CF, with more heart than football, continued to seek the CFF Albacete goal and had several lateral free kicks and corners to threaten their opponent, with a good aerial display by Mérida and Carmen. The Ojén-born striker was replaced by María Monterroso in minute 73.

The team continued to fight until the end, but didn’t find the reward of the goal against a very compact and tough opponent in defence that hardly conceded any opportunities. The 0-0 final result gives MCFF another point in the standings to total 38 after 22 games played.

Next week, the girls are away from home against Fundación Canaria CD Tenerife. Should they win, the Malaguistas would surpass their next opponent in the table, currently in fourth position with 40 points.
