Málaga CF will host Algeciras CF at La Rosaleda on Sunday 17th December at 20:00. Alhaurín de la Torre will be the protagonist in the last match of the year and the municipality will be represented on the armband worn by the Blue and White captain.
Alhaurín de la Torre is a municipality with an area of 82.67 km² that extends from the eastern slope of the Sierra de Mijas to the Valle del Guadalhorce and the Hoya de Málaga. Less than 20 minutes from the Costa del Sol capital, Alhaurín de la Torre shows itself to the world as a place of leisure, nature and everyday comforts.
Formerly known as Laolin, Alaolin or Alhaurinejo, Alhaurín de la Torre is history and tradition, it is legacy and family. Its origins date back to 1,000 BC with the presence of the Iberians. Later the Romans arrived and then the Berber population of the Hauara. All of this before 1487, when the Castilian conquest took place, which marked a turning point here.
Its more than 40,000 inhabitants, Alhaurinos and Alhaurinas by name, are characterised by the kindness and hospitality that make anyone feel at home in Alhaurín de la Torre. Modern and avant-garde, Alhaurín de la Torre is a place that can convey evolution and history in equal parts. As well as the modernised character of this municipality there are also historical elements such as the Torre de Alhaurín orchard, the Santa Ana hermitage and the Arcos de Zapata, which, together with the Torrealquería Archaeological Site, are hallmarks of this great municipality.
In regard to sport, Alhaurín De la Torre is a municipality that is committed to grassroots football. The large population that this municipality hosts means that there are different grassroots clubs to train the young players, with their sights firmly set on the municipality’s first team: Alhaurín de la Torre CF, an historic Tercera Federación side that now competes in the Sénior División de Honor.
On this occasion, José Luis Puche has designed a wonderful piece full of nuances. The artist reflects the Arcos de Zapata sheltering a flamenco singer and a jazz musician. Going deeper into the work, we come face to face with the purest essence of Alhaurín de la Torre synthesised in a masterful way. The architectural structure the 'Arcos de Zapata' is an 18th century aqueduct declared Andalusian Historical Heritage since 2018; a perfectly preserved jewel that houses the representation of flamenco, catalogued as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity since 2010. This singer is José Monje Cruz, 'Camarón de la Isla', who participated in the iconic 'La Torre del Cante' festival that celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, bringing together the greatest flamenco figures. In the adjacent arch we find an anonymous saxophonist representing the renowned 'Portón del Jazz', which every year brings together great musicians with the biggest fans of the North American genre from all over the country. This is Alhaurín de la Torre, a perfect mix of history, art and tradition with a strong international component. All of this at the highest level, so much so that this municipality is a heritage of infinite value for all Malagueños and Malagueñas.
A part of Alhaurín de la Torre will be present as we end of the year at La Rosaleda!
