Alevines and benjamines triumph in San Vicente Cup

Málaga CF left its mark last weekend with a ‘double’ in the 3rd edition of the San Vicente Cup. The Malaguista Alevín and Benjamín squads were victorious in Alicante.

One of the ever-expanding national homegrown tournaments is the San Vicente Cup, which has taken place in Alicante over the last three years. Teams such as Club Atlético de Madrid, Villarreal CF and Levante UD, amongst others, lost out to a Málaga CF that triumphed in both the Alevín and Benjamín categories.

Alevín MCF - 2ª Andaluza

In the group stage they defeated Hércules CF (2-1) and La Nucia (4-0). In the quarter-finals, the Blue and Whites beat Villarreal CF (2-0), in the semi-finals, again Hércules (6-1) and came out on top against Atlético de Madrid in the grand final with a goal in the closing stages (1-0).

Benjamín MCF - 2ª Andaluza

The defeated Hércules (1-0) and Murcia (6-0) in the group stage. Salesianos (2-1) was the victim in the quarter-finals, in the ‘semis’ they beat Barrio Obrero (1-0) and in the final, a vibrant duel, the Blue and Whites beat Levante UD (3-2).

Levante Cup

A combination of Blue and Whites’ Alevínes (Generation 2006) won the prestigious Levante Cup over the weekend, in one of the most important summertime events in grassroots football.
