Alcorcón, kilometre 35

The saying in football ‘new coach, certain victory’ came true in Alcorcón with a superb 1-4 win for new Málaga CF manager, Víctor Sanchez del Amo.

The Malaguista victory at Santo Domingo left a number of highlights that we review here in our kilometre:

Victorious Víctor

An unbeatable debut for the new coach, both winning and convincing. He is the second coach to win during his debut away from home in the MCF era, after Marcos Alonso (0-1 against Hércules CF in 06/07). Víctor’s 1-4 win is the best score for a Blue and White coach in an away fixture, and since the 3-4 against Cacereño in the Copa del Rey (2012/13), the team hasn’t scored four goals outside La Rosaleda. Better in less time, impossible.

Goal 1,400 in the history of MCF

The 1-3 goal from Renato Santos, as well as being a beautiful goal, also made history. It was number 1,400 in the history of Málaga Club de Fútbol, in official competition, since the re-founding of the Club. The first Malaguista goal, scored on 4th September 1994, was the work of Juanma in the legendary match against Adra (1-1) when the new Málaga’s journey in the Third Division began. From Adra to Alcorcón, from Juanma to Renato.

Debut goals on the wings

Javi Ontiveros and Renato Santos scored their first goals this LaLiga 1|2|3 season. The Marbella-born winger opened the scoring with a trademark move, and closed it with a spectacular free kick. Quite the show from the homegrown star. The Portuguese winger, meanwhile, netted a key goal to secure victory. With temper and suspense, his goal boosted the team’s confidence with a well-deserved victory.

The arrival of Adrián and the generosity of Leschuk

The league ‘pichichis’, both on eight goals so far this season, again took centre stage. Adrián showed that his capacity to score from the second line is formidable. He scored the 0-2 following a pass from… Blanco Leschuk. The striker, who has an extraordinary collective perception, also served up the 1-3 for Renato with a magical assist. The Argentinean has now made seven league goal passes. Outstanding.

Lombán, principal new addition

Víctor introduced five new additions to his starting-11 in regard to the previous line-up at La Rosaleda against Extremadura. Ricca and N’Diaye returned following suspension, Keidi was back on the pivot and Renato was on the right. Perhaps the most striking was the inclusion of David Lombán in central defence, together with Pau, to provide hierarchy and good exit with the ball from the defensive zone. The defender from Asturias was hard at work throughout play.
