The penultimate match of the previous season saw Málaga defeat a direct rival, away from home, to seal third place in LaLiga 1|2|3.

The Blue and Whites were victorious at the Carlos Belmonte with two goals from Javi Ontiveros and Alfred N’Diaye, hanging on in the second half with 10 men as Blanco Leschuk was shown the red card. Zozulia narrowed the gap for Albacete, but the final score was 1-2 and the three points returned to La Rosaleda.
