The Malaguista reserve team clinched an away draw against CD El Palo (3-3), in the 8th match of Third Division Group IX. Only a minute later, the referee awarded a penalty in favour of the locals, and sent off Malaguista, Luis Muñoz for a double yellow card. Vela converted the penalty in minute 44 (1-1).
No sooner had the second half got underway, Falu Aranda overcame Aarón to put CD El Palo ahead on the scoreboard (2-1, 48’). Tired, and with a player down, the reserve team tried to take control of play, but both sides generated opportunities. In minute 72, Kuki Zalazar equalised with a great goal from in front of the target (2-2). Again, only a minute later, El Palo outwitted the Malaguista defence to take the lead with a Diego goal from a corner (3-2, 74’).
Manel Ruano’s team pulled out all the stops in the final minutes of play to contain the rival, and did so in minute 90, as Javi Merida gained possession on the edge of the area. With impeccable definition at the near post, he levelled up the game (3-3). Atlético Malagueño have earned 18 points, are in third place and remain undefeated after eight matches.
