Sandro: “We want to play well and bring home the three points”

The Blue and Whites’ striker is optimistic ahead of the match against Deportivo Alavés: “They are a strong team at the back. We’ll try and create spaces to generate and convert chances.”

Two weeks of training

“It’s been a long, but positive week.  We knew we had to improve on certain things.  There’s always something to improve on, and over the past two weeks we’ve been able to change training somewhat, in order to work on the things we needed to correct.”

Personal performance

“I’m happy.  I’m getting the chance to play, and working hard every day to continue to earn minutes, fight for my place, and if I score goals, then all the better.”

Blue and Whites’ fans

“I said over the pre-season, I’m delighted.  It was a real achievement for me to come here, so I’m very happy.  The Málaga fans continue to surprise me, they are one of the best fan bases in LaLiga and Spain.”

Match against Deportivo Alavés

“They are a good team.  They could be one of the revelations of the First Division this season.  We’re off to a great ground, with fans that like to pile the pressure on the rival.  The team has been preparing well all week to be ready for Sunday, play well and bring home the three points.”

Alavés: a seasoned team

“They are a strong team at the back.  They have good attacking players, and are quick on the wings.  They also score goals.  We’ll try and create spaces to generate and convert chances.”

Winning start

“It’s crucial that we don’t fall behind.  This has happened on numerous occasions.  We’ve therefore had to fight for the entire match, but we’ve been lucky and the whole team’s fought to make a comeback.  We’ll do our best to go out there and give all we’ve got from the start, but this doesn’t happen again.”

First LaLiga matches

“Considering the pre-season we had, we weren’t expecting to start the competition like this.  I think we did a good job in the first match against Osasuna.  They closed up the ranks considerably.  We were able to take the lead, but they equalised in the last five minutes.  Mentally, we felt a little down.  We must continue working hard on various aspects we need to improve on, and the results will come.”
