A last-minute goal brings justice for Málaga (1-1)

A late Alfred N’Diaye goal allowed the Blue and Whites to bring a point home from their visit to the Nuevo Arcángel. The Malaguistas dominated the game and went level after Córdoba CF took the lead in minute 60.

The run-up to kick-off was marked by a large presence of Malaguista fans who invaded the streets of Córdoba. A legion of Blue and White followers didn’t want to miss the opportunity to cheer on their team from the stands at the Nuevo Arcángel.

There were two changes to Muñiz’s starting-11. The Malaguista manager introduced Luis Hernández into the line-up in place of sanctioned Diego González, and Harper for injured Dani Pacheco. In the 8th minute, Adrián González was substituted by Erik Morán due to physical problems. A minute later, the first chance of the game arrived for the visitors. Keidi unleashed an impressive shot from the front of the target, but the ball sailed over the goal defended by Carlos Abad. Málaga continued to make dangerous approaches to the rival area. A promising action by Iván Alejo on the right wing, but his shot was deflected to a corner by the local defence. Midway through the first half (22’), Erik Morán was shown the first yellow card of the game for a foul in midfield. Ten minutes later, it was Córdoba defender, Luis Muñoz who was booked for bringing down Blanco Leschuk. Ricca tried his luck with a distant shot from a rebound, but the ball went to the left of the goal. Muñiz’s men dominated the first 45 minutes but didn’t manage to convert despite successive attacks.

The second half got underway with a change to the visitor line-up. Ontiveros came on to replace Erik Morán, who was booked in the first half. The Malaguista coach introduced more bite to the attack, playing with two pivots, N’Diaye and Keidi. Alejo and Ontiveros occupied the wings and upfront were Harper and Blanco Leschuk. The latter was shown the yellow card for a foul on Luis Muñoz no sooner had the second half kicked off. In 60’, Córdoba opened the scoring. Miguel de las Cuevas hooked a loose ball inside the area and fired it to the back of the net (1-0). Nothing Munir could do. Blati Touré was booked (65’). Subsequently, Muñiz brought on Seleznov in place of Alejo. Miguel de las Cuevas was shown the yellow card for an elbow tackle in a jump with Iván Rodríguez. A free kick was awarded to Málaga in front of the area. Ontiveros skied the ball over the Córdoba goal. In the 80th minute, Blanco Leschuk finished off a perfectly placed ball by Harper that the Green and White defence deflected without too much difficulty.

Málaga took a step forward and a few minutes after Leschuk’s action, a shot from N’Diaye, that landed at Seleznov’s feet, came close to an equaliser, but the Ukrainian’s attempt escaped over the line, mere centimetres from Carlos Abad’s goal. Córdoba attacked, but came up against the Málaga defence. In 90’, the referee showed the yellow card to Fede Ricca for a foul on Piovaccari in midfield. Three minutes of stoppage time was enough for Málaga to draw level. First up was Ontiveros, who tried to surprise Carlos Abad with a frontal shot. However, the 1-1 arrived thanks to N’Diaye in 93’. With the match about to come to an end, the Málaga CF midfielder gained possession and crossed the ball into the back of the net. There was no more time for anything else and the final result was a deserved 1-1.
