A Herrero: “We’re going to keep fighting”

The Málaga CF captain spoke in the club's press room after the #MálagaElche match. “They knew how to play their cards. It’s a tough day, but we’re already thinking about the next match,” said the goalkeeper.

Not our day
“I want to thank the fans for supporting us throughout the match. We wanted to give our best performance, but it didn’t happen. It wasn't our day, it was the rival's, and I want to congratulate Elche. In the first half, we were better, but in the second half, with their second goal, their two goals came at difficult moments, and from there, it became hard for us. They knew how to play their cards and took advantage of our anxiety. It’s a tough day for us, but we’re already thinking about the next match.”

Positive outlook
“We have to look for positive takeaways from days like this. It could happen. There’s no team that doesn’t have one of these throughout the year. We hope it will serve as a lesson. There are things to correct; today, we played more with our hearts than with our football, but we’re very eager for the next match, and we will keep fighting.”

Penalty against us
“They are extreme situations. Sometimes it happens. I don’t think it’s concerning; today’s incident was avoidable, but it was on the edge. I'm not particularly worried, and I want us to keep performing like we did in the other six matchdays. Let this be a moment to say, 'hey, this can happen to us,' and let’s focus on next week.”

Duel with Mourad
“In the end, we all play our cards, and their last penalty was right down the middle (Mourad). Ultimately, you focus on doing your best to stop it. I'm looking forward to the next match; this team will keep showing up.”
