Pellicer: “We have to give more”

In a press conference, the Malaguista coach assessed the draw against Real Murcia. “We did things to win, we needed more insistence and should have generated more situations,” he said.

Arbitration

“The Murcia coach is intelligent, he knows our profession, we have to be careful. It's time to think about what you don't say, not say what you think. Everyone saw it, we have to be better than the rival and the refereeing establishment. We needed to improve our decision-making so as not to think about it. I congratulate my team, they have tried and we must continue. I feel bad for the fans, who are cheering us on at this point in the season. We have to reengage and win in our stadium. It’s tough for the referee and we all make mistakes.”

Need to improve

“We should have generated more chances in the first half, they came from five clean sheets and we knew they were going to be in the low block. When fatigue sets in we lack pace. In the first half they gave three minutes when time was lost. In the second part we had a break, today was the day to look for the free man, look outside. We missed the last pass, we should have generated a little more so as not to remember that action. We are all at risk, it’s a good test to know what can happen. We have to give more.”

Positives

“We’ve had 10 matches without defeat. We did things to win, we needed more insistence and should have generated more situations inside and out. The team tried to do so by playing from behind, taking risks against a well-organised rival. I'm going to focus on the positive things, knowing that we have to be better than the rival and a decision, we all want to do the best possible. A picture is worth a thousand words.”

Ferreiro’s expulsion

“The first one to tell me is the Murcia coach, I saw it and he is going to appeal. Today was a game to achieve victory, the rival is a team that is going to go further, they have a game with Ceuta to get there, and we have an opportunity to enter the playoff and to fight to be as high as possible. Now we need to think about the next game, what we have to do is compete and arrive in the best possible conditions to qualify. There are 15 points left and nothing can be taken for granted, but we must fight to be as high as possible.”

Demanding

“We lacked more speed in the final third to find the spaces. When they came out of the first pressure they got 10 behind. There was a lack of rhythm, in the last stretch of the season the physical and mental level is going to drop, because there is not the same energy as at the beginning. The performance of the squads is important, with few spaces players have to appear to generate chances. Against Linares we were very critical of the team, whilst there was improvement against Ceuta. Today the team tried. Things were missing, but we are going to continue working.”
