Genaro: “We had chances, but we lacked effectiveness”

The Málaga CF captain was one of the players to appear in the post-match press conference against Real Murcia. “We have gone 10 matches without losing, and adding points is important for the final stretch,” he stressed.

Controversial decision

“The 22,000 people who came to La Rosaleda today saw it. We have to be above all referee decisions, but they have an informant from the RFEF and they will have to make decisions.”

Another point

“It's not a failure, we've had chances and a pretty eye-catching game. Ibiza lost, and they’re above us. Ten days without losing and continuing to add points, which is important for the final stretch.”

Improve effectiveness

“I can list the chances that Kevin had in the first half. I had one, the lateral crosses, Ferreiro's shot against the crossbar... The penalty was a one-on-one opportunity. It’s something we are working on. We weren’t effective.”

Demanding

“It’s logical, we are the first ones who want people to go home happy with the three points. We have to appreciate that we are there and we depend on ourselves to get into the playoff. From there on in, do it in the best way.”

Continuous search for improvement

“We can give more, always. It's trial and error, it's being effective in front of the goal. Murcia planted a low block in the first half. We have pivoted, but we needed to develop the play faster. The work is being done well, we are the team with the least goals conceded in the category.”

Next rival, Córdoba CF

“They are a direct rival for second or third place. Now to rest and recover those of us who are the most fatigued. We’re now focused on Córdoba, they are doing things well despite the setback with Alcoyano. Hopefully it will be a nice, competitive game, a playoff final game.”
